Organic Phosphorus Workshop

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada

July 13-17, 2026

Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the upcoming Organic Phosphorus Workshop 2026, which will be held in Charlottetown, Canada, from July 13-17, 2026. The meeting will build on the four previous workshops held in Switzerland (2003), Panama (2013), UK (2016) and Chile (2023). This workshop offers a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with the international scientific community involved in organic phosphorus research across diverse ecosystems.

Three years will have passed since our last workshop in Púcon, Chile, and since then, the field is evolving with new challenges and opportunities. In 2026, we will explore how to address these developments and further our understanding of organic phosphorus in soils and water. The scientific sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Environmental impacts of organic phosphorus on water quality
  • Organic phosphorus and carbon-nitrogen dynamics in soils
  • Plant/soil/microbial interactions
  • Analytical methods for organic phosphorus
  • Organic phosphorus, food security and a changing climate

The organizing committee will welcome you at the birthplace of the Canadian Confederation where agriculture, fishing and tourism represent the largest industries. The island will charm you with its beautiful beaches, red sands and cliffs, and more importantly with its cuisine characterized by fresh and various local ingredients. We encourage you to come early or to stay late.

We look forward to seeing you all in Charlottetown in 2026 for what promises to be an inspiring and impactful workshop.

Warm regards,
The Local Organizing Committee
